Collection of measured data and energy management

From the very first moment, buildings can provide a wealth of useful data for the operator. Analysing and utilising the data enables environmentally conscious and energy-efficient operation. Our clients want to manage their buildings efficiently, to know what is happening in the building, and thus make energy-saving decisions.

Measurement data collection for energy-efficient operation

Today, in a significant proportion of handed-over or maintained buildings, better use of available data is already a key consideration. Measurement is typically useful in two main areas: on the one hand, in technological engineering systems, and on the other, in comfort engineering systems such as heating-cooling and air handling. Better knowledge of these can result in more efficient and economical operation.

Better quality data, responsible decisions

Raw and processed information provides enormous support in building operation. With this data, the operation of the building becomes measurable, and clear, decision-supporting reports can be prepared. With rising energy prices, predictable operation is becoming increasingly important. Simply raising awareness of potential savings can reduce energy consumption by as much as 8-10 percent, as this has an immediate incentive effect.

Energy management: programmable intervention

The cost-effective operation of automation systems has always been a key aspect of Welltech’s work. With the increase in energy prices, it is becoming ever more important for clients to monitor operating costs through human intervention or forecasting.

Energy management provides the fundamental pillars for this, such as:

  • optimal use
  • supporting consumption-based cost sharing among tenants in office buildings and shopping centers
  • support for determining the costs necessary for the production of individual products (even broken down to the level of individual items) in factories and plants.

The benefits of energy management

  • full or partial data collection can be implemented on the building
  • penalties for non-compliance with specific conditions in service contracts (e.g. fixed electricity) can be avoided
  • energy costs are reduced
  • operation becomes more efficient.
  • peak balancing can be implemented, and peak loads can be gradually reduced by optimizing power control.
  • the energy network and energy quality can be monitored, and needs can be planned in advance

The implementation of an energy management system pays for itself in the short term.

How can you use our systems?

One building, multiple users

In the case of multiple tenants, consumption metering can be crucial. Through accurate information gathering, costs can be tracked and invoiced, for example in shopping centres or office buildings. The amount of water, electricity, and thermal energy can be measured.

Assessment of investment costs

The benefits of measurement are also significant in the operation of technological systems: for example, in pharmaceutical investments, the inclusion of production technology becomes tangible and the costs incurred can be determined precisely.

Temperature control

The temperature control system typically has the highest energy demand. Sudden, ad hoc heating or cooling requires much more energy than planned operation. Even, consistent settings based on analysis of previous usage data place less strain on both the environment and the system. Some of our systems are capable of examining typical usage based on the general work schedule. The results can be compared with the scheduling of events, which includes what activities occur and when, so energy use can be planned in advance.

Alarm and warning

We set up alerts for deviations from usual data, which allows for the immediate detection of significant increases in consumption. For example, if water consumption increases at night in an office building, the system sends a notification via the management system about a suspected pipe burst, or in the case of excessive heating/cooling, about a faulty control element.

Use of monthly contracted quantity

For businesses operating with monthly contracted energy purchases, exceeding the planned quantity can result in significant additional costs. Our systems are able to switch automatically as soon as consumption approaches the allowed quantity. At this point, it switches off minor consumers and non-prioritised systems. In the case of cooling, for example, it can reduce output based on the expected weather, or pre-cool, so that a sudden large amount of resources is not needed for comfort.

Welltech’s energy management service

With our expertise, we support our partners by installing electricity metering points as required by the client, and integrating data provided by heat, water, and any consumption meters into a data display and evaluation system. This enables the owner not only to comply with legal requirements, but also to benefit from measurement and analysis options that help rationalise energy consumption and optimise building operation.
