A milestone in the nearly 30-year history of the market-leading Welltech ZRt. is the project of the 28-storey tower of the MOL Campus, for which we won the prize for the most innovative building automation project in 2022 from Siemens. However, even more important is that during the project, we further expanded our unique knowledge and expertise in the domestic market. We discussed the exciting details with Ádám Szaszkó, Business and Construction Director at Welltech ZRt.
Unique technological solutions at the MOL CAMPUS
How did Welltech participate in the realisation of the building of the future?
The construction of the MOL Tower was an extremely complex task, not only due to the size of the building, but also in developing solutions that met the high expectations of the Client. Several aspects had to be considered in the building’s automation. In addition to classic building automation, our company not only implemented the automation of cooling, heating, smoke and heat extraction, but also the control of the building’s entire shading technology and lighting control. We incorporated state-of-the-art technology for regulating incoming natural light and temperature. The tower uses innovative solutions such as 900 square metres of solar panels, a geothermal energy-based cooling and heating system, and greywater recycling.
The Client’s goal was to create a building that far exceeds the technical average and truly paves the way for future possibilities. It is also important that through innovations, beyond ensuring the pleasant well-being of those in the office complex, the operation is realised in the most economical, efficient, or “smartest” way possible.
What unique technical solutions did you use in the project?
The partnership started at the founding of our company remains significant with Honeywell, but today we also work with products from many other companies to always provide solutions that best meet Client needs. During the construction works of the MOL Campus, we used Siemens equipment, thus both the Siemens Building Technology (SBT) and Siemens Digital Industries (SDI) product ranges are present. The use of Siemens building automation products allows for controlling the regulation of room temperature, lighting, and shading. Using Siemens industrial products, we managed to put in place switching automation, heat and smoke extraction, and the control of comfort systems. Thus, we can modestly yet confidently state that with this project, we have significant references in both the industrial and building automation fields.
Do you have insight into the project since the handover of the MOL Campus?
MOL was already aware during the construction that after the handover of a building, regular preventive maintenance significantly contributes to efficient operation, therefore discussions on the technical content of maintenance, including the necessary spare parts inventory, already commenced during the construction phase. By the time the MOL Campus construction concluded, Welltech’s dedicated service team was already in place, supporting operation from the very first moment.
